Effective July 31, 2009, loan originators doing business in the state of Missouri will be required to be individually licensed and educated.  Education requirements will include 20 hours of pre-licensing credits and 8 hours of continuing education.  Classes for both pre-licensing and continuing education must be approved through the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS).  Approved vendors and courses may be found on the NMLS Education page. The Missouri Association of Mortgage Professionals (MAMP) has partnered with the Mortgage Education Foundation to offer approved education to our members. The Mortgage Education Foundation (MEF) will be offering classes that meet both pre-licensing and continuing education requirements. The MAMP is very supportive of the new loan originator licensing requirements now mandated by law.   Remember…an educated mortgage professional is a mortgage professional worth doing business with. NMLS Course Provider # 1400008 Pre-licensing education hours must be taken in-house or through instructor-led online training.  Missouri mortgage professionals can take online continuing education courses through the Illinois Mortgage Education Foundation by logging onto http://www.mortgageeducationfoundation.com.    NMLS approved pre-licensing online education contact. Loan originators must have an NMLS number on file before they can earn credit for education. 
Loan originators do not have to pay any licensing fees until they have met all requirements and are ready to submit their application materials to the MO Division of Finance.  We encourage you to apply for your NMLS number as soon as possible.
